The Wave is a generational infrastructure project that will keep the Sunshine Coast moving with a seamless public transport network across the region.
For locals and visitors, it will significantly improve travel in an area with a growing population. The introduction of an accessible, modern public transport system will help to accelerate the delivery of thousands of homes.
A new rail line between Beerwah and Birtinya and a metro-style service which will seamlessly connect with rail at Birtinya offering a priority connection to the Sunshine Coast Airport via Maroochydore CBD.
Once open, The Wave will be significantly faster than a car for local commuters travelling between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane in peak periods. This will help to manage road congestion as the region grows and encourage more use of sustainable and climate friendly transport options on the Sunshine Coast.
The Wave will support the movement of tens of thousands of people around the region for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, while leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
This project will improve connectivity, reduce travel times, and support sustainable growth by delivering cutting-edge infrastructure tailored to the needs of the community and the broader region.
