
The establishment of the $60 million TAFE Centre of Excellence at Moreton Bay, with scheduled delivery by 2028, represents an ambitious investment in the future of South East Queensland's economy.
To meet the growing demand for skilled workers in the manufacturing sector and other critical industries, the Centre of Excellence aims to provide state-of-the-art training facilities and specialised courses tailored to the needs of the region. The $60 million investment signals a commitment to equipping individuals with industry-relevant skills, strongly aligning with the Queensland Government’s priority to grow the skilled workforce of the future.
Located within close proximity to four of South East Queensland’s largest industrial precincts, the future TAFE campus will serve as a hub for training innovation and collaboration, integrating advanced technologies and modern equipment into its training programs. These resources will empower students, apprentices and employers to adapt to changing industrial demands and technological advancements, ensuring sustainability and competitiveness in South East Queensland.
The future Moreton Bay TAFE Centre of Excellence will deliver:
- Dedicated facilities for advanced manufacturing training including robotics, smart factories, maker spaces with 3D printing capabilities, and welding simulators;
- Engineering and fabrication workshops
- Advanced trades applications in carpentry, plumbing and electrotechnology;
- Future-ready labs and general learning areas; and
- Industry partnership, collaboration and exhibition spaces.
A business case being completed will further confirm training requirements and future stakeholders.
